Match Details

With 11 debutants, Old Ivanhoe played Aquinas, both of whom were returning for their second seasons.

Given near perfect conditions and with a large crowd in attendance, both teams moved the ball well, but Old Ivanhoe were able to sneak the 2 goals via CC Baldasare.  Old Ivanhoe lead by 4 points at quarter time then by 6 points at half time.  The 3rd quarter saw Aquinas keep Old Ivanhoe goalless while slotting one themselves.  A point on the siren to Old Ivanhoe would prove to be a very handy score as their lead was reduced to 2 points.

With strong running and good finishing Aquinas jump out to an 11 point lead in the last quarter.  With 3 minutes to go, Old Ivanhoe reduced the lead to 5 points.  In the last minute, a reversed free kick taken by Abby Glascott, whose kick was marked and subsequently converted again by CC Baldasare,  then siren blew. Both teams were stunned as the scoreboard showed both teams 34 apiece, however, the scoreboard had not recorded the point on the 3 quarter siren.  Luckily for Old Ivanhoe, the Field Umpire and the Goal umpire conferred and confirmed the result enabling the girls to celebrate their 1st win of 2019.( I believe the score of a draw has been overturned)

Round 2 is at Chelsworth Park at 9.30am against the travelling Power House.
