The Hoers commenced well with small forward Luke Scuderi on fire with 3 first quarter goals. Old Ivanhoe’s forward pressure was making a difference. The defence was holding strong with Tom Corben applying great pressure. Brandon Lee kicked the Old Boys fourth for the quarter after taking a strong overhead mark. Old Geelong however, came back into the game with 2 late quarter goals.
Quarter Time Scores: Old Ivanhoe 4 3 27 lead Old Geelong 3 3 21
First Quarter Best Players: Luke Scuderi, Brandon Lee, Jack Bradley, Tim Fidler, Ant Willison and Tom Kellock.
Second Quarter
The tempo and the pressure lifted from the beginning of the quarter neither team willing to take a backward step and as a result a desperate effort in trying to take a mark Luke Scuderi was floored from a head clash from friendly fire resulting in him unable to take any further part in the game.
It was a real hot contest and the game was tight until Tiger Nagel took a good overhead mark and handballed to a running James Rock who kicked to an unmarked Stevie T who put on the after burners and slotted throw a fine running goal.
Quarter highlights were Tiger Nagel’s overhead marking, Matty Varcirca’s in and under and centre clearance work and a Strong overhead mark from Ace Stenta who was also being asked to pinch hit in the ruck.
Half Time Scores: Old Ivanhoe: 6 6 42 to Old Geelong 6 7 43.

Third Quarter
A brilliant start for the Old Boys with a centre clearance from Charlie Hogg to fast lead from full forward Brando Lee resulting in a goal to put Hoers 5 points up. Tom Corben was again great in defence ably assisted by the rest of the defensive unit.
The other highlights of the quarter, Tom Kellock’s ruck work, another Brandon Lee goal and the team pressure resulting in another Stevie T goal. Nick Marshall and James Rock’s pressure also contributed to the scores being level at Three Quarter Time.

Third Quarter Best Players: Stevie T, Tom Kellock, Tiger Nagel, Brandon Lee, Charlie Hogg and Tom Corben.
Final Quarter
The stage was now set for an epic last quarter, could the Old Boys stand strong and get over the line in what was a very even contest to date, only time would tell. The Old Boys started well with Jack Bradley kicking to Charlie Hogg who kicked to Brandon Lee who outworked his opponent to take a strong mark and kick his fourth goal of the game. Charlie Hogg lifted his work rate even higher during the last quarter combining well with Tom Kellock who was gallant in the ruck all day long. Unfortunately for the Old Boys Old Geelong’s team work and our increasing injury list went against us with Brandon Lee and Tom Kellock coming off in the last quarter to add to Luke Scuderi’s absence meant the Old Boys started to run out of fit soldiers and were run over in the final 10 minutes.
Final Quarter Best Players: Charlie Hogg, Tom Corben, Ace Stenta, Stevie T, James Rock and Tom Kellock.
Goals: Brandon Lee 4, Luke Scuderi 3, Stevie T 3, Anthony Stenta 1.
