Old Ivanhoe vs Ormond (Seniors)

The Seniors lost another close match at home at Chelsworth to a classy Ormond after nearly taking the honours with a gutsy last quarter comeback

The first quarter was even with neither side finding it easy to penetrate the other sides defence , and OIG managed only two goals to  Velluto and Bradley which matched Ormond`s goals , so that only point was the difference at the first break.

Ormond then  dominated the second term with a classy display  of running football with some crisp disposals, most notably from their AFL recruit Matt Suckling , which led to a 7 to 1 goalfest  , and the game looked close to being over at halftime .

But in the third term , OIG came out fighting, and with Luke Velluto dominating in the ruck, Jarryd Robertson at CHB taking intercept marks at will , Trent Marshall at fullback and Nick Vacirca at back-pocket and Max Jones ,in another great game , reining in Ormond`s forwards, forwards Stanford, Oliver, Veliou , Scuderi, DelMonte  and Bradley goaled to put OIG two goals down at ¾ time.

Could OIG do it was on everyone lips , and for most of the final term they forced the ball forward through sheer tenacity, and after goals to Skok and Scuderi put OIG  within a goal ,followed by snaps at goals that went agonisingly close to taking the lead and probably closing out the game , but the effort proved too much and Ormond answered with three of their own to finish the game .
