Match Details
For the first time in several years the reserves team was “over-subscribed” for Round 1. Such is the early depth at the Club, a number of 1sts regulars from 2017 found themselves having to adjust for the early start of 11.50 rather than 2 pm.
The game itself was of an excellent standard with Peninsula leading narrowly by 5 points at ¼ time. Thereafter OIGFC took control, with the lead being extended each quarter and the final score being 14.17.101 to 5.2.32
It was encouraging to see the return of Damien Pierri (who dominated across half-forward & kicked 2 goals) and Fran Portelli (also 2 goals), both members of the U19s Premiership side of 2014. The addition of some younger members of the 2017 U19s premiership also has strengthened the side considerably.
Best Players: J French, T Marshall, D Pierri, T Deane, J Begeman & C Snodgrass
Goals: J Begeman 3, D Pierri, A Bacskos, R Glavas, F Portelli & A Solimidis 2 & N Marshall
