Grammarian Drafted!
Fri, Nov 27th

Sam Grimley, who this year completed year 12 at the plenty campus, had his named called out by the Hawks at pick 39 in the national draft last night.
It has been a metoeroric rise for Grimmers who spent most of his teens playing Basketball. After playing a few games in the first XVIII as a year 10, only this year did he commit to football where he starred in the ruck and at full forward for the school.
Standing at 199cm and 85kg he has elite speed and agility for his size and towards the end of the year was brought into the Northern Knights program to play the last 4 games.
He has gone from virtual unknown to hawthorns first choice in the national draft in a few months. Although his size, athletic ability and pedigree (his grandfather and father both played for fitzroy) are hard to ignore, he was still considered a draft smokey and alot of draft nerds were last night saying "who the hell is Sam Grimley"; given his absence from the majority of the TAC season and the draft camps.
Sam joins Ben Mckinley (WCE) and Joel Macdonald (MELB) as Ivanhoe Grammarians currently on AFL lists. |
