Jarrod Gieschen to lead in 2010!

OIGFC would like to announce Jarrod Gieschen as the club captain for the 2010 season and beyond.

Jarrod is a member of the IGS class of 2000 where he was the captain of the first XVIII and won a remarkable 3 1st XVIII best and fairest trophies. He first played at Old Ivanhoe in 2001 while playing with Port Melbourne in the VFL and returned the following year to play in a full time capacity. Jarrod was a member of the 2005 B-section premiership side and has earnt respect within the club and throughout the competition for his contested ball winning ability and leadership on and off the field.

Jarrod replaces Brad Thompson who has returned home to Wodonga after 5 years at the club, 2 as captain, a premiership, best and fairest, state represention and big shoes to fill.

Jarrod will be supported by a 4-man leadership group consisting off Evan Byrne, Paul Jolley, Sam Geilings and Adam Baldwin.
