Going into round three undefeated and facing MCC for the first time the womens team wanted to prove what they’re made of. On a stunning ground down in Beaumaris and going with the wind the girls started the first quarter with Cecelia kicking all four goals and holding the opposition scoreless.

The girls found it harder to score in the second term going against the wind but started playing smart football to lock the ball in their forward 50. Some hard running by Bella Kocis was too much for the opposition and proved that keeping your feet and winning the ball with speed was becoming one of Old Ivanhoe’s best attributes.

By the third quarter the girls had really found their rhythm and with the opposition playing one man down the girls were able to increase their lead with a further 2 goals. Georgia O’halloran once again used her booming kick to get the ball down the ground and our midfielders, who barely sat on the bench for the entire game won the hard ball and delivered it into our forwards. In her first game Bella Kocis showed she could do it all laying some huge tackles. With the help of Bella Reeves-Smyth who laid some crucial shepherds throughout the girls were given enough time to dispose of the ball efficiently and deliver it into our forward 50 allowing Old Ivanhoe to go into the final term leading 51-8.

In the fourth quarter MCC’s standout players found their form and were able to muster one last goal. Old Ivanhoe, going into the final quarter with a 45 point lead had the sole goal of boosting their percentage knowing it could be extremely handy come later in the season. Bonae Langborne, in a standout game kicked an impressive goal that rolled through as a reward for her efforts all day. Despite MCC’s valiant efforts though, Old Ivanhoe was able to sneak through 2 very handy late goals to come out with a 59 point win with the final score 75-16.

Old Ivanhoe will be looking for their first win against Therry Penola next week at Chelsworth park after their round one loss to them last year.
