Old Ivanhoe  scored a dramatic win by the narrowest margin in the last seconds of a hard fought struggle against a tenacious Old Camberwell , with only seconds to go to further cement its place in the four with a 5-3 winning game tally .

In difficult conditions with a ‘cricket pitch’ muddy centre, the two teams were never further apart all day by a margin of more than 2 goals. OIG started the first term with a lot of the play but found it hard to convert to goals, but goals to Jack Welham, Del Monte and Richard Skok kept Camberwell within a goal at ┬╝ time. The second and third quarters were similar with Camberwell maintaining a slight lead with ex-Hawthorn ruckman Campbell proving a formidable opponent in the muddy centre and also around the ground, while OIG’s small brigade of Kane Veliou, Seamous Gibbs, Michael Del Monte and Hamesh Matheson offset this with their dominance on the ball. Will Gough put in another great game with strong marking and his trademark raking kicks to the forward line, while Michael ‘Hammer’ Ryan relished the tough conditions with a powerhouse game in the packs. By the start of the last term Camberwell had opened up the lead to 12 points, but goals to Erman, Shepheard and Skok got OIG finally in front halfway through the last term.

With minutes to go, Camberwell snatched the lead by 5 points with a goal, and then proceeded to clog up the game with endless ball-ups through the tactics of ruckman Campbell who kept tapping the ball to his feet for a pile-up . But then with ten seconds left on the clock, Hamish Shepheard palmed the ball out of the pack to Gibbs who quickly handballed to Matheson for a miracle snap goal to put OIG ahead by 1 point.
