Match Details
Similar to the Seniors, the 2nd 18 entered its encounter with a 2:4 win-loss ratio. For much of the first half St Marys appeared to be slightly the better side and at half time went in with a one goal lead (5.7.37 to 4.7.31). The 3rd quarter saw the boys explode to another level, kicking a remarkable 9 goals to 2 to go into the final change with a commanding 36-point lead (13.9.87 to 7.9.51). The final quarter saw the boys continue to apply the blow torch, adding a further 3 goals, whilst holding the opposition scoreless.
Tyson Deane played an excellent role tagging St Marys main play maker and winning plenty of the ball himself. Matt Broughan and Jack Bradley provided multiple options (and goals; 7 and 5 respectively) up forward and Nick Marshall was dominant around the stoppages and dangerous when resting on the forward line. Leaders Michael Golden and Cal Matheson also played important roles in the win. It was also great to see the return of Dave Bruno in the ruck. His work at the stoppages saw countless opportunities spoon fed to the onballers.
