Ben is a Senior Reporter with ABC News Victoria, based in Melbourne, and has reported from some of the world’s most complex regions, including as the ABC’s Middle East Correspondent in Jerusalem and later as North America Correspondent in Washington. He has also worked on Four Corners and covered major international and political events. Given the current global environment, we are especially keen to hear Ben’s insights on the world situation, informed by his extensive Middle East experience and international reporting. Known for his clear, engaging storytelling across ABC radio, television and digital platforms, Ben brings a sharp perspective on the issues shaping Australia and the world, and we’re very much looking forward to hearing from him. Lunch commences from 12:00pm and will lead into another important home game. Whether you’re entertaining guests or simply enjoying a day at the footy, the Chelsworth Club Lunch is not to be missed.

Chelsworth Park Clubrooms Chelsworth Park, Irvine Rd, Ivanhoe, Victoria, AustraliaThis will be a significant day for the club as we come together for a lunch in memory of Steve King, while also celebrating the 25-year reunion of our 2001 Premiership side (Seniors & Club XVIII). It promises to be a meaningful and memorable occasion, bringing together past and present members of the OIGFC community. Our Chelsworth lunches continue to be a highlight of the season, offering a fantastic opportunity to connect over great food, drinks, and conversation before the afternoon’s football. We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker the following week will be Josh Weddle, a rising star of the Hawthorn Football Club and one of the AFL’s most exciting young players. Drafted to Hawthorn in 2022, Josh has quickly established himself at senior level, known for his versatility, athleticism and strong defensive craft across the backline. Josh also comes from a proud OIGFC family, as the son of Life Member and three‑time premiership player Jarrod Weddle, and the nephew of Club Legend, former captain and four‑time premiership player Rowan Weddle. Josh was educated at Carey. Still early in his career, he has already earned league‑wide recognition, including an AFL Rising Star nomination and multiple 22under22 selections.

Chelsworth Park Clubrooms Chelsworth Park, Irvine Rd, Ivanhoe, Victoria, AustraliaOur Chelsworth Club Lunch continues to be a highlight of the season, bringing together players, supporters, and the wider OIGFC community for a great afternoon of food, drinks, and connection before the on-field action. We’re delighted to welcome special guest Tarkyn Lockyer, who played more than 200 games for Collingwood between 1999 and 2010, including being part of the 2010 premiership campaign. Known for his toughness and consistency, Tarkyn built a reputation as one of the club’s most reliable performers across his career. Tarkyn is currently the AFL Academy Coach for both the boys and girls U/18 programs and was recently appointed Head of Football at Ivanhoe Grammar School, where his two daughters attend.
