Senior Coach Position Available
Role Summary
The Senior Coach’s role goes far beyond strategy and match results. You will be entrusted with shaping the character and growth of young people, inspiring them to strive for excellence not only as footballers, but as community members and individuals. Through thoughtful leadership, you will cultivate a positive culture of high expectations; for both performance and conduct. You will seek to help each person reach their full potential in all facets of life. As the visible leader of the Club, especially among players and coaching staff, you will set the standard for integrity, resilience, and personal development, guiding the next generation to thrive both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Champion the Club’s culture and vision, building a supportive, inclusive “ONE Club” environment.
- Maintain clear, open communication and strong relationships with all players, staff, volunteers, and the committee.
- Promote strong club values and standards, focusing on continuous improvement and helping players achieve their personal best.
Coaching & Development
- Establish and articulate a modern game plan that every senior player can understand and consistently execute.
- Similarly, develop a structured game strategy that can be applied by the reserves and U/19 teams, helping promoted players transition smoothly into the senior squad.
- Collaborate with other coaches to ensure a unified coaching approach throughout the Club.
- Increase depth and numbers in the men’s football roster, with a strong emphasis on recruiting and retaining players.
- Maintain an open, approachable, and consistent communication style, offering helpful feedback and genuine support for each player’s development on and off the field.
- Build trust with players through transparency, fairness, and empathy.
- Be a mentor and positive role model, especially for younger players moving into the senior group.
Staff & Player Management
- Collaborate with the Club Executive or relevant sub-committee to bring on board Assistant Coaches and identify qualified football support staff.
- Partner with the Club Executive or relevant sub-committee to recruit new players.
Game Day & Reporting
- Oversee coaching responsibilities on game days and provide clear strategic guidance.
- Participate in designated club functions and events as required.
- Deliver regular updates to the General Committee, including submitting at least two comprehensive season review reports.

Expectations
Old Ivanhoe expects the successful candidate to already hold the required coaching accreditations and that the successful candidate has senior football coaching experience.
